Andrew Graham Named Flying Tigers Manager

Lakeland, FL - The Detroit Tigers have named Andrew Graham manager of the Lakeland Flying Tigers for the 2017 season.  

The upcoming season will mark Graham's seventh season as a minor league manager in the Tigers organization. He has spent the three previous seasons managing the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Midwest League. He guided the Whitecaps to the Midwest League's championship in 2015. The Whitecaps made the playoffs in all three seasons while Graham managed the club, compiling a 228-177 (.563) regular season record.

"I'm excited to be coming back to Lakeland where I began my professional baseball career", said Graham". "I look forward to working hard and bringing a Florida State League Championship back to the city of Lakeland".  

Prior to managing West Michigan, Graham served three seasons as manager at Single A Connecticut. He also served as a coach with the Gulf Coast League Tigers in both 2009 and 2010, in addition to serving as the organization's minor league catching coordinator in 2010. Selected by the Tigers in the 19th round of the June 2003 MLB draft, he spent six seasons (2003-08) in the club's minor league system as a manager.

The Tigers have also announced that Mark Johnson will serve as pitching coach for the Flying Tigers next season. Johnson has served as pitching coach at West Michigan the previous two seasons and has spent 10 seasons in the Tigers organization. The rest of the 2017 coaching staff will be announced at a later date.

The 2017 Flying Tigers season kicks off on April 6 with the home opener scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at newly renovated Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. The complete schedule and promotional calendar will be released at a later date.
