Charlotte Comes Back in Extra Innings to Defeat Syracuse 7-6

FORT MILL, S.C.  - The Charlotte Knights defeated the Syracuse Chiefs 7-6 in 11 innings at Knights Stadium.  The Knights scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the 11th in the comeback win and are now 4-0 in extra inning games this season.

With the game tied at 5-5 entering the 11th, the Chiefs were able to go ahead with a sacrifice fly to right from Jesus Valdez that scored Chris McConnell.  The Chiefs had a comeback of their own as they were down 5-0 after four innings.

With two outs in the 11th and a runner on second Dayan Viciedo hit a ball off the left field wall that scored Alejandro De Aza to tie the game.  Dallas McPherson followed with a double to right field that scored Viciedo all the way from first base to give the Knights the win.

Josh Kinney pitched the final two innings of the game to earn the win.  Fellow Charlotte reliever Shane Lindsay continues to hold the Chiefs hitless, as opponents are only hitting .077 off him in over 27 innings of work.
The Knights and Chiefs continue their series tomorrow at 2:15 PM.  RHP Matt Zaleski will start for the Knights and RHP Yunkesy Maya will start for the Chiefs.
