Tebow exits after apparently injuring leg
In the NFL, Tim Tebow was praised for playing through injuries with the Broncos. But the former quarterback also knew when he had to just sit one out.
The Mets prospect left Scottsdale's Arizona Fall League game immediately after being caught stealing in the bottom of the fourth inning of Monday afternoon's game against Peoria. According to MLB Pipeline, he "slid awkwardly" into second and "popped up holding his right leg, below the knee."
Tebow went 1-for-2 with a single to right field in the third inning and then reached on a forceout in the fourth before attempting to swipe second.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner decided to turn his attention to baseball this fall and was signed by the Mets on Sept. 8. After spending time in the instructional league, where he homered, Tebow was sent to the AFL. Through 10 games, the University of Florida product is hitting .147 with five hits, an RBI and two walks for the Scorpions.
