Anderson keeps surging with Solar Sox

Marlins' No. 4 prospect falls triple shy of cycle, drives in two runs
November 2, 2016

Brian Anderson has had a pretty good stretch in the Arizona Fall League thus far. On Wednesday, it got even better.

Miami's fourth-ranked prospect went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBIs and two runs as Mesa fell, 7-4, to Glendale at Sloan Park.

Anderson laced a leadoff single to center field against Chris Anderson (Dodgers) in the second inning and immediately came around to score the game's first run on an RBI double by Cubs' No. 2 prospect Eloy Jimenez. The 23-year-old added a double to center in the fourth off Anderson before popping out in the sixth.

In the eighth, Anderson came up with one on and one out, then took a 2-0 offering from Cardinals right-hander Rowan Wick to left field for his third fall homer. The three-hit game boosted the first baseman's average to .386 in 13 games.

Anderson has been seeing the ball especially well of late with 11 hits in his last six games for a .458 average. The University of Arkansas product has scored seven runs and plated four more during the stretch.

In his second full season, Anderson broke out in the Marlins system. The 2014 third-round pick tallied a career-high 65 RBIs while tying his professional best with 11 long balls. Anderson has spent the majority of his short career at third base, with some time at second, but has been working at first base this fall. So far, the Oklahoma native has one error in 13 games.

Top Dodgers prospect Cody Bellinger collected three RBIs via a pair of doubles for the Desert Dogs. Cardinals No. 11 prospect Carson Kelly added a two-run single while Nick Tanielu (Astros) chipped in three hits and two runs.

Anderson (1-2) worked around a run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings for Glendale. Houston's fourth-ranked prospect David Paulino pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the fall.
