Port St. Lucie, Fla. - St. Lucie Mets fans can now follow the Mets online for the remainder of the 2011 Florida State League season. Alex Kushel has been named the St. Lucie Mets play-by-play internet broadcaster. "It's a great honor to join the Mets organization," Kushel said. " I am excited to have the opportunity and look forward to providing the fans coverage during the season."

Kushel joins the Mets staff after working at NewsRadio 610 WIOD in Miami in 2011. Kushel, a New Jersey native, currently resides in Boca Raton. He graduated from the University of Miami in 2009 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Sport Administration. While there, he served as the play-by-play broadcaster for University of Miami baseball from 2005-2009 and broadcasted for the Hurricanes in the College World Series in 2008. He did play-by-play for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2008. In 2009 was the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the National Champion Forest City Owls Baseball Club of Coastal Plain League and was selected to broadcast the 2009 Costal Plain League All Star Game.
