Potomac Nationals Reveal 2017 Schedule
Woodbridge, VA---The Potomac Nationals are excited to unveil their 2017 Carolina League regular season schedule, the 40th campaign in Potomac Baseball franchise history.
The P-Nats' 140-game season schedule features 70 home games at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium including visits from nine different Carolina League teams with respect to the league's two most recent franchise additions as the result of the Carolina League's expansion.
The Potomac Nationals' regular season gets underway on the road for the second straight year, as Potomac opens up its search for the club's sixth Carolina League Championship at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, DE, vs. the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals) on Thursday, April 6th. A seven-game road trip wraps up with three matchups against "Battle of the Beltways" rival, the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles), before Opening Day at The Pfitz.
The 2017 home opener is likewise against the Blue Rocks, as the two clubs will meet on Thursday, April 13th in the first of a four-game series. The opening homestand continues with the first visit from a new team to the league, as the Down East Wood Ducks (Texas Rangers) play at Pfitzner Stadium from Monday, April 17th through Wednesday, April 19th.
Potomac is set to play 10 games at home in April, before things ratchet up for the summer months. Pfitzner Stadium is scheduled to host 15 P-Nats games in May, 14 in June, 16 in July, and 15 in August, while Potomac plays its lone September regular season series on the road at Frederick.
Moving away from an eight-team league for the first time in nearly 40 years, the Carolina League divisions will be rearranged for the 2017 season to accommodate the pair of expansion clubs.
Here is the breakdown, by opponent, for the P-Nats in 2017:
Carolina Mudcats (Milwaukee Brewers): 4 at home, 4 on the road
Down East Wood Ducks (Texas Rangers): 7 at home, 6 on the road
Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles): 12 at home, 13 on the road
Lynchburg Hillcats (Cleveland Indians): 15 at home, 11 on the road

Team TBD (Houston Astros): 3 at home, 4 on the road
