MLB Network to air All-Star Game
The 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game will take place at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, home of the Salt Lake Bees. While the Game has been telecast nationally for most of its history, including every season since 1995, this will be the second time the Triple-A All-Star Game has aired on MLB Network following last year's contest in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. MLB Network is the ultimate television destination for baseball fans, featuring live games, original programming, highlights, and insights and analysis from the best in the business, including Bob Costas, Harold Reynolds, Al Leiter, and Peter Gammons. On January 1, 2009, MLB Network debuted with the largest launch in cable television history and is currently distributed in approximately 57 million homes throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Handling play-by-play duties on the telecast will be Chris Rose. Rose is an MLB Network studio host, where he appears weekdays at 5 pm ET on "Intentional Talk", an open forum where everyone and everything is the subject of discussion and opinion. Rose is also an on-air host at FOX Sports, which he joined in 2000 and where he serves as the on-site pre-game show host and calls play-by-play for select games for MLB on FOX. He also hosted FOX's pre- and post-game coverage for the 2009 Major League All-Star Game and World Series.
Serving as the analyst will be Kevin Millar. The 12-year Major League first baseman and outfielder who played from 1998 to 2009 is an MLB Network studio analyst, regularly appearing on "Intentional Talk" and "MLB Tonight". The former member of the Marlins, Red Sox, Orioles, and Blue Jays also spent parts of two seasons at the Triple-A level, suiting up in 1998 for the International League's Charlotte Knights before playing in 1999 with Calgary of the Pacific Coast League. In 2004, Millar was part of the Boston Red Sox team that won the franchise's first World Series championship in 86 years.
Steve Klauke of Salt Lake and Durham's Neil Solondz will call the action from this year's Triple-A All-Star Game live on the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network. Klauke, who is known as the only "voice" in Salt Lake Bees franchise history, will be calling his second Triple-A All-Star Game during his career after broadcasting the 1996 game, which was also held in Salt Lake City. Solondz is in his eighth season as the radio announcer for the Durham Bulls. Before calling games in Durham, Solondz worked for the Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League and the Midwest League's Quad City River Bandits.
