All-Star Game Umpire Crew Announced

Eric Loveless and Mark Ripperger of the Pacific Coast League and David Rackley and Fran Burke of the International League have been selected as the umpires for the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game held at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 13th, Triple-A Baseball officials announced today.

Calling balls and strikes from behind the plate will be Eric Loveless. Loveless, 37, is currently in his fourth season as an umpire in the Pacific Coast League. In addition to the PCL, the Utah native has served as an umpire in the Arizona Fall League (2010), Southern League (2005-07), Florida State League (2004-05), Northwest League (2002-03), Midwest League (2003) and Arizona Rookie League (2002).

First base umpire David Rackley, 29, has been an umpire in the International League since 2007 while the 2011 season is his fourth full year at Triple-A. The Texas native began his umpire career in the Arizona Rookie League in 2001 before moving on to the Florida Instructional League from 2001-2002, Northwest League from 2002-2003, South Atlantic League in 2003, California League in 2004, and the Texas League from 2005-2007. Rackley was an umpire in MLB Spring Training for the last three years in addition to his time as an umpire in the MLB regular season during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Second base umpire Mark Ripperger, 30, is in his fourth season umpiring in the PCL after working in the Eastern, California, Midwest, Arizona and Northwest Leagues since 2003. The California native has umpired in MLB Spring Training during the last three years as well as the Arizona Fall League in 2008 and 2009. Over the last two seasons, Ripperger has worked in several Major League regular season games.

From third base, Fran Burke will round out the All-Star umpire crew. Burke, 31, is also in his fourth year at Triple-A after he joined the International League in 2008. The New Jersey native has been an umpire since 2000, working in the Gulf Coast League (2000-01), Appalachian League (2001), South Atlantic League (2002), Carolina League (2003-2005), Eastern League (2005-2007), Southern League (2007) and Arizona Fall League (2010).
