Comcast countdown update
After the TinCaps' 10th sellout of the season Sunday night, with 7,761 fans in attendance, the TinCaps now stand just 548 short of the 1,000,000 mark. With their next home game Monday, July 4th, the TinCaps will welcome their millionth fan.
"We've been looking forward to this all season," Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President of Marketing, said. "We had an amazing crowd tonight, our 10th sellout of the season, but we came up just short of reaching 1,000,000. We now know that the 1,000,000th fan will be here on July 4th and they might just walk away with $1,000,000. The TinCaps and Comcast couldn't be more excited knowing we will reach this milestone tomorrow night." A limited number of tickets are still available for the July 4th game. Fireworks will follow the game.
"Comcast is a big fan of the TinCaps and has been a proud sponsor since the team began playing ball at Parkview Field," Comcast Manager of Programming Brett Hatch said. "It is a natural fit for our company to sponsor the TinCaps' salute to their millionth fan at the ballpark with this milestone prize and to bring our customers all the live TinCaps action on XFINITY TV."
"If someone wants a chance to be selected all they have to do is have a valid ticket and be at the game," Limmer said. "Once we have determined that we have crossed the 1,000,000 mark we will randomly select a fan from all those in attendance - then they'll have a chance at $1,000,000."
On the game that the TinCaps break the 1,000,000th fan milestone the crowd will be alerted that the 1,000,000th fan is sitting somewhere inside Parkview Field. One lucky fan will be chosen at random, with the help of American Media and Special Promotions, the specialty firm the TinCaps have entrusted with implementing the millionth fan promotion.
Specific details of the $1,000,000 opportunity are yet to be announced by team officials. "Part of the fun of this promotion is the element of surprise," Limmer stated. "We will say that the TinCaps 1,000,000th fan can be anywhere from 2 years old to 102 and still have a chance at taking home the $1,000,000 jackpot."
"It gives a whole new meaning to 'must be present to win,'" Limmer said. "It's fun to think that our millionth fan could walk out of Parkview Field that night a millionaire. We hope it happens and can't wait to see who ends up with the opportunity. Good luck!"
Comcast has sponsored the TinCaps as a founding sponsor since they relocated to Parkview Field in downtown Fort Wayne. Since that move, Comcast has carried every TinCaps home game live across Indiana on channel 82. TinCaps fans may also catch game highlights from every home game On Demand from XFINITY in the Sports section of Hoosier TV. Also, fans can watch "Around the Bases," a feature show that highlights TinCaps players, coaches, fans, as well as a look inside the TinCaps organization, only On Demand.
Tickets are still available for each game for the TinCaps' current home stand. Tickets can be purchased at the Parkview Field Ticket Office, by calling (260) 482-6400, or by visiting the tickets page.
