Thunder Welcome Steve Garrison Back to Roster

June 25, 2011
(New Britain, CT) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that LHP Steve Garrison has been added to the Trenton roster after a rehab appearance with Short Season-A Staten Island. In corresponding moves, LHP Kei Igawa has been transferred to Triple A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre and OF Melky Mesa has been reinstated from the Trenton Disabled List and transferred to Advanced A Tampa. The moves leave the Thunder roster at its maximum of 24 active players.

Garrison, a native of Ewing, New Jersey, was the team's Opening Day starter on April 7 in New Hampshire. The lefty last appeared for the Thunder on May 3 when he left a game at Waterfront Park against Portland after just one inning because of a groin injury. In six starts with Trenton this season, Garrison is 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA. Garrison, originally selected by Milwaukee in the tenth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, was claimed off waivers by the Yankees from San Diego on September 9, 2010.

Garrison will be on the mound for the Thunder in game two of the three-game series from New Britain Stadium Saturday night at 6:35 PM. The Rock Cats will counter with Brett Jacobson (3-0, 1.92), the reigning Eastern League Pitcher of the Week. Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 6:20 PM.
