December 6, 2016

2015-16 Storm Chasers infielder Dusty Coleman has signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres according to Baseball America's most recent minor league free agent update, with Coleman also tweeting out the news himself while thanking the Royals organization.

Coleman played in 129 games with Omaha over the previous two seasons, combining for a .260 batting average (114-439), adding 57 runs, 22 doubles, four triples, 12 homers and 48 RBI, along with 14 stolen bases. A versatile infielder, he played three of the infield spots, in addition to one game in left field, while also throwing a scoreless inning of work on the mound. This past season he posted a .239 clip (45-188) in 56 games, in addition to 26 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, five homers and 21 RBI while missing time due to injury.

The South Dakota native made his Major League debut with the Kansas City Royals on July 3, 2015, against the Minnesota Twins. He did not record a hit in five at-bats with the Royals during his time in the Major Leagues. Coleman is also known for appearing on Sportscenter's Top Ten Plays segment while playing third base with the Storm Chasers in 2015 after making a sensational catch after leaping over the tarp in foul territory.

The 29-year-old was originally selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 28th round of the 2008 MLB Draft out of Wichita State University. He would later sign with the Royals as a minor league free agent on November 9, 2015.
