Small-School Baseball All-Stars
December 8, 2016

CORPUS CHRISTI - Long-time district rivals Robstown and Sinton placed three players each on the 2017 South Texas Pre-Season Small-School Baseball Team announced Thursday.

All 14 members will be recognized with their large-school counterparts at the 13th South Texas Winter Baseball Banquet on Thursday, January 26, at the Omni Hotel. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event is presented by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and iHeartMEDIA. Tickets are on sale at the Whataburger Field Box Office. To order by phone, call 361-561-HOOK (4665).

The Cotton Pickers and Pirates duel in District 31-4A these days, and coaches Elias Vasquez and Adrian Alaniz have senior talent to rely on. Robstown looks to first baseman Marco De Los Santos, second baseman Xavier Pena, and outfielder Jose Molina. Three-time pre-season all-star Jordan Martinez, third baseman Brett Brown, and outfielder Jonathan Carrillo provide veteran leadership at Sinton.

Two players represent Bishop and Refugio. Badgers pitcher Rico Trevino, a repeater from 2016, is joined by utility man Tres Arrellano. Pitcher D'Mond LaFond and designated hitter Jacobe Avery are Bobcat upperclassmen; Avery is the lone junior of the quartet.

Odem senior pitcher Michael Everett, Banquete senior outfielder Jonathon Medina, Kingsville junior shortstop Tyler Kieschnick, and London junior catcher Bailous King are the other honorees. Everett repeats from last year.

The all-stars were nominated and voted on by area Class 4A, 3A, 2A, and private school coaches.
