Celebrate the 4th of July With the Senators

Fireworks, old-fashioned eating contests, and apple pie
June 29, 2011
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators are celebrating the nation's 235th birthday in grand fashion on Monday night. The Senators have put together an old-fashioned July 4th celebration complete with baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and fireworks. Game time on Monday is at 7:00 p.m. and the opponent is the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers).

The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. when the gates open to Metro Bank Park. Be sure to bring your glove because there is a pre-game catch on the field prior to the game open to everyone. Youngsters of all ages can participate in a pre-game balloon toss game. The winning pair leaves Metro Bank Park knowing they are the champions in the first annual Harrisburg Senators balloon toss.

As you settle into your seat for the ballgame, you'll want to root more than ever for the Senators. Every time a Senators player hits a single, double, triple, or home run, Uncle Sam will find one lucky fan and give away an apple pie. The Senators are also holding a hot dog eating contest on the boardwalk, it may not be as well-known as that other hot dog eating contest, but it promises to be just as much fun!

In keeping with the theme of the day, the Senators are also offering fans an old-fashioned picnic. Beginning when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 7:30 p.m., there is an all-you-can-eat picnic featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq chicken, baked beans, mac & cheese, potato salad, chips, cookies, popcorn, and soda and water for just $22.00 for adults and $12.00 for kids.

Then after the game, look towards the sky for a fantastic, worth waiting for, Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza! This promises to be the best show ever seen at Metro Bank Park.

The Senators are currently in first place in the Western Division of the Eastern League. Be sure to make plans to celebrate the Fourth of July with the Senators watching fantastic baseball and amazing fireworks.

On game days, the Metro Bank Park box office is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until the end of the game, and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the end of the game. Box office hours on non-game days are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours.
