Mike Leach to Visit Community Field
Leach will be in the area to instruct at the first annual IWC Football Alumni and Friends football camp along with former IWC head coach Hal Mumme, former IWC head coach Pat Poore and numerous former IWC players including Marc Hill, Dustin Dewald and Robert Draper.
Leach recently announced that he will pre-release his first book, "Swing Your Sword", while making his visit. The first two copies of the book will be auctioned off Friday at the game during a silent auction. Leach and the other members of the camp coaching staff will be attending the game and will personally autograph those two copies of the book for the winning bidders. A limited number of book copies may be available during Leach's visit, however, the book was listed last week on Amazon.com.
"We're pretty excited about doing the release there in Iowa," said Leach. "The official release date isn't until July 19th, but we decided to do this pre-release where my college coaching started."
After stints at Kentucky and Oklahoma, Mike Leach took over a sub-par Texas Tech program that had one of the worst graduation rates in all of major college football. A decade later, Leach had guided Tech to unprecedented on-field success and the highest graduation rate of any public university in major college football. He is now a TV analyst for CBS College Sports and hosts the daily College Football Playbook show on SiriusXM. He is native of Cody, Wyoming, and graduated from Brigham Young University. He earned his J.D. from Pepperdine Law School in 1986. Leach and his wife, Sharon, have four children. Friday's broadcast of his SiriusXM show will take place from the showroom of Shottenkirk's car dealership in Mt. Pleasant.
