Knights Right Handed Pitcher Goes 2-0 with 0.00 ERA to Receives Honors

FORT MILL, S.C. - Charlotte Knights pitcher Matt Zaleski has been named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 4 -10.  This past week Zaleski went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/14.1 IP) and nine strikeouts.

Zaleski pitched 7.1 shutout innings on July 4th vs. Norfolk in the Knights 9-0 win over the Tides.  In the winning effort he scattered three hits and one walk while striking out five.  Zaleski earned the victory to end a three game winless streak.

In his next start on July 9th, the first game of a doubleheader at Gwinnett, Zaleski pitched the first complete game shutout of his career.  Zaleski held the Braves to just two hits and one walk in 7.0 innings of work to go along with four strikeouts.

This is the second I.L. Pitcher of the Week honor Zaleski has received in his career.  He previously received the honor last season for the week of June 14-21.  He is the first Knights player this season to receive either Pitcher or Player of the Week honors.
