Mustangs Walk Off in 10 Innings
Robert Maddox hit a 2-run HR off of Aaron Tullo to give the Billings Mustangs a walk-off win over the Orem Owlz on Wednesday night.
Tullo (1-1) left a 0-1 pitch up in the zone with two outs and a runner on third, and Maddox made him pay, blasting his 5th HR just inside the right field foul pole./p>
The Owlz (12-11) fell behind by a few runs early, but that was nothing compared to the 8-3 deficit that Tom Kotchman's squad faced with only two innings remaining./p>
C.J. Cron stepped to the plate with two runners on and two outs in the top of the 8th, and crushed his 4th HR of the year off of Brooks Pinckard to tie the score at eight./p>
It was a rough start to the game for the Owlz, as the Mustangs (13-10) got five lights out innings from Radhames Quezada. Quezada went five innings striking out 10, and giving up only one run on six hits. The lone run given up by Quezada came on a RBI single by Frazier Hall that scored Kaleb Cowart. Cowart finished 3-for-5 with two runs, while Hall went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI./p>
The game got ugly in the 6th when the Mustangs scored 5 runs off of Owlz relievers. Erik Gregersen and Garrett Baker combined to pitch one inning, giving up five runs on four hits. The big blow came when Baker relieved Gregersen with two on and proceeded to give up a 3-run home run to Juan Silva. The next batter, Devin Lohman, also took Baker deep./p>
Chad Yinger, Taylor Kinzer and Tullo combined for four innings of shutout baseball, until Tullo surrendered the home run in the 10th inning./p>
James Allen (2-0) gave up two hits and struck out two in a scoreless 10th. The Owlz and Mustangs will continue their three game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
