Princeton Downs Burlington in Series Finale
Burlington again was able to get on the scoreboard in their first at bat, as Justin Trapp would score on a single from Jorge Bonifacio, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games. The Rays would answer back in the bottom of the inning on a two-RBI double from Cameron Seitzer to make it 2-1 Rays. Princeton would add a run in the second inning on Joshua Sale's third home run of the year.
The Royals put up a run in the top of the sixth on Lane Adams' first home run of the year. Princeton would counter in their next at bat before the Rays would pull away in the seventh scoring three times, with the help of three doubles, and take a 7-2 lead heading into the eighth. A two-bagger from Adrian Bringas would bring in the Royals' third run, but that's as close as Burlington would come to a comeback, falling 7-3.
Felipe Rivero started for Princeton and pitched three innings, giving up a run and two hits. Ames went four innings in relief and scattered three hits and one run, while Garret Smith gave up a run on three hits in two innings.
Burlington starter, Matt Ridings, gave up three runs on six hits, in three innings. In relief, Andy Ferguson surrendered a run in an inning and two thirds, followed by Rudy Brown who gave up three unearned runs on three hits. Cory Hall pitched a hitless eighth for the Royals.
At the plate for Princeton, Seitzer and Joel Caminero each went 3-for-4, with Seitzer doubling three times and knocking in three runs. Taylor Motter had a two hit night, and, along with Drew Vettleson, scored two runs.
Adams led the Royals with three hits, including his homerun. Jorge Bonifacio went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Bringas' double was his only hit of the night.
