Mets option Ruben Tejada to Herd

July 20, 2011 -The New York Mets today announced that they have optioned INF RUBEN TEJADA to the Buffalo Bisons. The infielder will join the Herd in the next few days.

Tejada began the 2011 season with the Bisons before being promoted on May 17. In 39 games with Buffalo, the 21-year old averaged .267 (40-150) with six doubles, three triples, three home runs and 18RBI. Of his 39 games with Buffalo, 37 were starts at shortstop.

With New York, Tejada hit .250 (42-168) with four doubles and 19RBI in 52 games.
