Jason Stevenson pitched a five-hitter on Saturday for his second complete game in three starts as the Potomac Nationals cruised to a 7-1 win over the Kinston Indians.

Stevenson (4-3) surrendered a two-out home run to Kevin Kouzmanoff in the first inning, then allowed just two more base runners to reach second. He recorded a season-high eight strikeouts without issuing a walk.

The 24-year-old left-hander started the season at Double-A Harrisburg and went 1-9 with 10.57 ERA. He lost three of his first four Carolina League decisions but is 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA in his last three starts.

Stevenson also tied Lynchburg's Patrick O'Brien, Winston-Salem's Ryan Rodriguez and teammate Brett Price for the league lead with two complete games.

Josh Whitesell, Shawn Norris and Kory Casto homered for Potomac, which snapped a four-game losing streak and climbed within one game of .500 at 27-28.

Kinston's Sean Smith (5-6) gave up all seven runs on five hits and four walks in five innings with two walks and three strikeouts. The Indians lost for the second time in six games.
