Anthony Rizzo Rejoins Tucson Padres

The San Diego Padres have optioned INF Anthony Rizzo to Tucson and recalled INF/OF Kyle Blanks. Rizzo batted .143 in 35 Major League games with one home run and six RBIs. Rizzo flew across the country from Florida to Las Vegas to join the Tucson Padres on the day he was sent down, rather than using the optional three days Major League players get when optioned to the Minor Leagues.



The 21-year-old Rizzo has been one of the best players in the Pacific Coast League this season, batting .359 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs in 54 Triple-A games.
