Phegley & McPherson Help Slug Out Knights Victory

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Knights overcame an early deficit to defeat the visiting Indianapolis Indians at Knights Stadium 5-4.  Charlotte starter Joe Bisenius improved to 3-0 on the year as he allowed just two earned runs in six innings.

It didn't start out easy for Bisenius as he allowed three first inning runs.  After Indians second baseman Josh Harrison hit a single and outfielder John Bowker doubled, they both later scored on a throwing error and wild pitch by Bisenius.  Indians catcher, Ryan Doumit, who reached base on a Bisenius throwing error scored on a sacrifice fly by Jason Jaramillo.

The Knights answered back in the home half of the inning when Josh Phegley singled to score Eduardo Escobar.  Dallas McPherson would tie the game in third inning with a two-run homer off of Indians starter Justin Wilson.  Phegley and Escobar each had three hits in the game.

With the game tied 3-3, Phegley hit another RBI-single in the fifth to score Lastings Milledge giving the Knights a one-run lead.  In the sixth inning, Andrew Garcia singled to score Andrew Garcia to give the Knights some insurance.  The Indians tried to make a comeback in the eighth inning with a solo home run from Harrison, but that was all the Indians would get.

Gregory Infante pitched one scoreless inning to earn his second save of the season.  Indians' Wilson falls to 9-6 on the season.

The Knights and Indians continue their series tomorrow at 12:15 PM at Knights Stadium.  RHP Matt Zaleski will start for Charlotte and a Indianapolis has yet to name a starter.
