Team Update
The Greeneville Astros continue to make strides as the season nears the halfway mark. DH/1B Chase Davidson continues to lead the Astros in many statistical categories, including homeruns, RBI, and runs scored. Davidson is fourth in the Appy League in homeruns and third in the league in slugging percentage and OPS. In addition to Davidson, outfielder Jordan Scott has been a consistent threat from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Scott leads Greeneville in batting average and is second on the team in runs scored. Over his past ten games, Scott is batting .351, with seven runs scored and six RBI. First baseman Jesse Wierzbicki has heated up as well, batting .353 with three homeruns and nine RBI in his past ten games.
On the mound, relievers Matison Smith and Steve Martin have shared the closer's role with great success. Smith's season ERA is at 2.84, while Martin's is a stellar 1.50. In addition to Smith and Martin, reliever Brad Propst has pitched extremely well in his past ten games, pitching seven innings and striking out nine batters without allowing an earned run.
