Hundley Returns to SA for Rehab

August 2, 2011
San Antonio - San Diego Padres catcher Nick Hundley has been sent to San Antonio to begin his rehabilitation assignment after having surgery to repair his strained right elbow July 8. Hundley has been on the San Diego disabled list since July 6.

Hundley is hitting .222 (34-for-153) with five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 45 games with the Padres this season.

The 27-year old native of Corvallis, OR was a member of San Antonio's 2007 Texas League championship team. In 101 games with the Missions that season, Hundley hit .247 (92-for-373) with 23 doubles, one triple, 20 home runs, 72 RBI and 55 runs scored. He finished fourth in the Texas League in homers and fifth in slugging percentage (.475).

Hundley will join San Antonio today but will not be in the starting line-up. There is no time table for how long Hundley will be with the Missions, but he does not occupy a spot on San Antonio's roster since he is on a Major League disabled list.
