Hartford, Conn- The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels by the score of 2-1 at Dunkin' Donuts Park on Friday night. The game was played in front of the third capacity crowd in Hartford this season, 6,351. Yency Almonte pitched well over six innings, the bullpen hurled three scoreless frames, Collin Ferguson homered and Ryan McMahon ripped an RBI double as Hartford won for the fifth time in six games, its best stretch of young season. It was also the Yard Goats' third one-run victory over that span.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game on a home run by Collin Ferguson in the fifth inning. The Yard Goats first baseman blasted his first Eastern League home run into the left field ConnectiCare picnic seats, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead. The homer came on the very next pitch after Dillon Thomas was robbed of a homer by a fantastic catch by Slade Heathcott who went over the wall and brought the ball back.

The Flying Squirrels tied the game in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Hunter Cole, scoring Dylan Davis who came in from first base. The hit came off Hartford starter Yency Almonte who allowed just one run.

The Yard Goats took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on Ryan McMahon's RBI double. Max White began the rally with a leadoff walk. White then stole second base and on a throwing error advanced to third. White scored on McMahon's double which hit the first base bag and rolled into right field.

Almonte turned things over to the bullpen in the seventh inning. Yard Goats relievers Steve Ascher, D.J. Johnson and James Farris worked three scoreless innings in the win.
