Las Vegas' Myrow hits grand slam
August 25, 2005
Brian Myrow swatted a grand slam in the seventh inning to send the 51s to a 10-3 victory over the Beavers on Wednesday at PGE Park.

Myrow's 20th dinger came off reliever Brandon Emanuel and snapped a 3-3 tie. Emanuel (2-3) came in to start the seventh but did not retire any of the five batters he faced. He surrendered three hits and a walk, with another batter reaching on an error.

Jason Grabowski singled to score a run before Myrow's big clout.

Mike Rose had tied the score with a two-run homer in the sixth. He went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Cody Ross was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, slugging a two-run blast in the ninth.

Jason Grabowski was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Delwyn Young and Jose Flores each had two hits, with Young smacking the first of the 51s' four homers, a solo shot in the fifth off Portland starter Mike Thompson.

Major League veteran Scott Erickson (1-3) picked up his first win with the 51s. He gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings with four walks and seven strikeouts. Erickson surrendered a solo homer to Sean Burroughs in the second.

Thompson also allowed three runs in six innings, but scattered seven hits. He struck out seven and walked four. --Tim Leonard/MLB.com
