Bryce Harper hits walk-off 2-run HR

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators won in dramatic fashion in front of 7,177 fans on Friday night 3-2 over the Trenton Thunder. Bryce Harper hit a one-out two-run home run on a 3-2 pitch to send the Sens to their first win on the season when trailing into the ninth inning. It was the sixth time this year the Senators have won in their last at bat at home and their third on a home run.

The Senators moved back into first place with the win because Bowie lost 4-3 to New Britain.

Danny Rosenbaum started and was outstanding for the Senators. He went seven innings and allowed two runs, but just one earned while striking out nine batters. Pat McCoy pitched a scoreless eighth and Hassan Pena pitched a perfect ninth to earn his second win with the Senators.

Harrisburg scored their first run in the fifth inning when Leonard Davis tripled to open the inning and scored on a single by Tim Pahuta. Davis set up the game winning rally by hitting a single with one-out in the ninth inning. He had three hits on the night. Tim Pahuta chipped in with two hits. The home run by Harper was his first at Metro Bank Park and third for the Senators this season.

Dellin Betances started for Trenton and pitched seven strong innings allowing just a run one five hits while striking out five batters. Ryan Pope was a loser for the first time with Trenton, allowing the home run in the ninth.

Game two of the three game series is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with LH Oliver Perez on the hill for the Senators against RH Craig Heyer for Trenton. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
