Top Prospect Bryce Harper Scheduled to Face Sea Dogs

Portland, Maine- Highly touted prospect Bryce Harper is scheduled to play at Hadlock Field when the Harrisburg Senators , Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, come to Portland for a three game series with the Sea Dogs from Monday, August 22nd through Wednesday, August 24th.

Harper, 18 years-old, was the number overall draft pick in the 2010 draft. Baseball America has ranked him the number one prospect in all of Minor League Baseball in 2011.

The phenom began the 2011 season with the Single-A Hagerstown Suns, and hit an impressive .318 with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs in 72 games. He ranked among the league leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs, and stolen bases, earning a promotion to Harrisburg on July 4th.

As of August 13th, Harper is hitting .250 (29-116) with seven doubles, three home runs, and 12 RBIs through 33 games with the Senators. The 6'3" slugger hit a two run walk-off home run, estimated at 480 feet, on August 12th to lead the Senators to a 3-2 win.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Harper participated in the Arizona Fall League in 2010, and hit .343. He helped lead the Scottsdale Scorpions to the 2010 Arizona Fall League championship.

He has been profiled in numerous national publications including a spread in Sports Illustrated.

The Sea Dogs open the Harrisburg series with a 7:00 PM game on Monday, August 22nd. Tuesday's game on August 23rd gets underway at 6:00 PM and features a post-game fireworks show, made possible by U.S. Cellular. The series concludes with a 12:00 Noon game on Thursday, August 24th.
