M-Braves lose fourth straight to BayBears

5-4 loss puts Mississippi at 15-31 in one run games this season.
August 15, 2011
MOBILE, AL - The Mississippi Braves matched the Mobile BayBears run for run until the eighth inning on Sunday night, but the BayBears pulled ahead for a 5-4 victory to take four of five in the series at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The Braves are now 15-31 in one-run games in 2011. They finish 7-22 against the Mobile BayBears in 2011.

Dan Nelson had three hits on the night, including a double and two runs scored, and Cory Harrilchak had two hits, including his fourth triple of the year to bring in a run, but their efforts weren't enough.

BayBears starter Trevor Bauer, the #3 overall pick in this year's draft, was as good as advertised in his double-A debut. He pitched five innings, striking out eight without allowing a run. Mississippi (22-28, 47-73) did manage five hits against him, but couldn't score.

Mobile held a 2-0 lead on two unearned runs off of starter Jose Lugo in the third. The Braves plated two in the sixth to tie the game, but Mobile would get both runs back in the bottom of the sixth.

The top of the 7th saw Ed Lucas walk with two outs. Nelson doubled to bring him in, then Harrilchak tripled to plate Nelson and tie the game, 4-4. An RBI single by Marc Krauss to plate Taylor Harbin in the bottom of the eighth though put Mobile ahead 5-4.

Yonata Ortega took the win for Mobile (34-15, 72-47), while Benino Pruneda suffered his seventh loss in relief for the Braves. Mike DeMark picked up his 11th save in as many tries, and his fifth against the M-Braves this year.

After an off day on Monday, the Mississippi Braves return home to begin a five-game home series against the Huntsville Stars. LHP Chris Cody takes the mound in Tuesday night's 7:05 PM CDT series opener.
