Conger Pays Visit to Boys and Girls Club

August 17, 2011
Salt Lake Bees catcher Hank Conger made a visit to the Sugarhouse Boys and Girls Club in Salt Lake Wednesday morning. Conger, a Boys and Girls Club member as a child, talked about his road to becoming a professional baseball player and the time he spent in the club growing up in Southern California.

The 40-plus 8-12 year olds learned that basketball was the first organized sport he was involved in, thanks to the club. Being a part of a team aided him to develop lifelong skills of teamwork and dedication. Conger also talked about all the support he received from family and friends growing up in helping achieve his dreams.

After speaking to the children, the Bees catcher was flooded with questions, some about injuries, statistics and even his preference of sunflower seeds. Conger was grateful to be able to visit with kids associated with the club that had been so much a part him as a child.
