Mr. Robinson Joins Bees' Neighborhood

Morales to DL; Damico Returns
April 26, 2007
Burlington, IA (April 26, 2007) - The Kansas City Royals and Burlington Bees announce a series of roster moves today. RHP Angelo Morales has been placed on the disabled list with soreness in his right shoulder. RHP Yovany Damico returns to the Bees two days after being re-assigned to extended spring training camp. OF Jarrod Dyson has been placed on the bereavement list and OF Derrick Robinson will join the Bees' active roster today.

Morales came out after just one inning on Monday night in Dayton. Morales goes on the shelf with a 3-0 record and a 1.23 ERA in four games (two starts). In 14.2 innings pitched, he has allowed just two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out 17 to tie for the team lead. He is one of seven pitchers tied for the Midwest League lead with three victories. Damico returns to the active roster today after leaving Dayton on Monday morning. In four appearances, he has no record and a 2.08 ERA with one save. He's allowed two runs on six hits in 8.2 innings while walking one and striking out ten. Damico ranks 16th on the Bees' all-time list with 65 appearances over the last three years.

Dyson will be gone for up to a week due to a death in his family for the second time this month. Dyson was given a leave of absence from April 9th-15th to return home after the passing of his father. Dyson just received word on Tuesday that his grandmother has also passed away. He returned home to Mississippi again yesterday to be with his family during this very difficult time.

Robinson joins the Bees from extended spring training to fill Dyson's roster spot. The Royals drafted Robinson in the 4th Round of last year's draft out of PK Yonge High School in Gainesville, FL. Considered the fastest player available in last year's draft, the Royals persuaded him to sign and pass up a scholarship to play cornerback at the University of Florida. He hit .488 with 42 stolen bases as a senior and was named Florida 3A 1st-Team All-State. He made his pro debut in the Arizona Rookie League last year and hit .233 with a homer, 24 RBI, and stole 20 bases in 54 games. Baseball America rates Robinson as the fastest runner and best athlete in the Royals Minor League system and have him 21st on the organization's Top 30 Prospect List.

The Bees are back home tonight to take on the Swing of the Quad Cities at 7:00 at Community Field. Tonight is Thirsty Thursday sponsored by the Sombrero Bar & Grill and Classic Hits KQ92.
