Bruntlett, Gothreaux lift Express

Eric Bruntlett drove in two runs and Jared Gothreaux tossed six solid innings as Round Rock edged visiting Albuquerque, 5-3, on Thursday.

Bruntlett's two-run single in the first inning gave the Express a 3-0 lead. After going hitless in his first 28 at-bats, the 29-year-old left fielder is 13-for-41 in his last 10 games, raising his batting average to .203.

Brooks Conrad, Eric Munson and Cody Ransom each had two hits and an RBI for Round Rock (11-10), which has won back-to-back games after dropping five in a row.

Gothreaux (1-0) surrendered three runs on two hits while striking out six without issuing a walk. Through 19 2/3 innings, the 27-year-old right-hander has held opposing hitters to a .208 batting average.

Jose Rodriguez earned his second save after allowing a hit while striking out two and walking one in 1 2/3 scoreless frames.

Isotopes starter Chris George (1-2) yielded five runs on 11 hits while striking out one and walking one in 5 2/3 innings.

John Baker launched a two-run homer in the fourth and Paul Hoover delivered a solo shot in the fifth for Albuquerque (8-12), which has lost three straight. --Ryan McConnell/MLB.com
