Landin, Swing top Bees

Jaime Landin was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in helping Quad Cities past Burlington, 6-2, on Sunday at John O'Donnell Stadium.

Landin crushed a solo home run in the sixth inning, doubled in the second and singled in the eighth. The right-hander entered the game mired in a 2-for-21 slide and hadn't driven in a run since April 21.

Christian Reyes had two hits and drove in two runs. Mark Shorey hit an RBI double in the third for the Swing (13-11), who took the four-game series.

Quad Cities starter Elvis Hernandez (3-2) allowing one hit through five innings, striking out four for the win. P.J. Walters picked up his first save despite allowing two runs on four hits and a walk in four innings, striking out six.

Kurt Mertins' single in the ninth plated both Burlington runs. The Bees (10-12) were held to just five hits.

Burlington starter Brent Fisher (0-2) allowed three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four in 4 2/3 frames. Ryan Di Pietro was tagged for three runs on four hits in three-plus innings of relief. --Danny Wild/MLB.com
