Anthony Sanders New Hitting Coach

Former Mariner joins Ocasio in the dugout
April 30, 2007
The Colorado Rockies and Tri-City Dust Devils are pleased to announce the hiring of a new hitting coach, Anthony Sanders. The 2007 season will be the first in the coaching career for Sanders. He will be joining previously announced and returning staff members manager Freddie Ocasio, pitching coach Doug Linton, and trainer Andy Stover. Sanders and Linton both bring Major League experience to the Dust Devils coaching staff.

Sanders started his professional baseball career in 1993 with the Toronto organization and retired in 2006. In April of 1999 Sanders made his Major League debut with the Toronto Blue Jays, going 2 for 4 against the Anaheim Angels in his first start. Another highlight in the career of Anthony Sanders was in 2000, when he was part of the team that won the Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Local fans might remember that in 2001 Sanders was part of the Seattle Mariners team that won 116 games.

Although this is Sanders' first coaching position in professional baseball, it is not his first experience with the Colorado Rockies organization. Sanders had a stint with the Colorado Rockies triple - A team, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, in 2004.

Sanders will be making his debut as the hitting coach in Vancouver on June 19, with the first homestand starting June 24 vs. the Everett AquaSox.

Ticket plans for the 2007 season are on sale now and start at just $30, with full-season tickets available for as low as $199. Special ticket rates are available for groups of 20 or more.
