Offensive Players of the Week
Jose Morales, Rochester

Morales hit safely in all five games he played this week, including four multi-hit games. This backstop's sweet-swinging ways propelled his average to .413 on the season, a mere two points behind league leader (and current Pittsburgh Pirates catcher) Ryan Doumit. Morales bashed his first homer of the season against Syracuse on Monday and hit three doubles on Sunday as the Red Wings rallied for a 9-6 victory over Toledo.
Pacific Coast League
Mike Morse, Tacoma
.560 (14-25), 9 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, .920 SLG
Morse's current eight-game hitting streak has raised his average from .232 to a smoking .333. After crossing the plate just seven times over his first 16 games, the 25-year-old has scored at least one run in each of his past six. Morse fell a triple short of the cycle against Las Vegas on Sunday as he almost single-handedly led the Rainiers to a 3-1 win over Las Vegas.
Eastern League
Jordan Brown, Akron
.520 (13-25), 7 R, 6 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 5 RBI, 3 BB, 2 SO, 0 SB, .760 SLG
Brown collected four three-hit games this week, something he had not managed to do once over his first 12 games of the season. Nearly half of the 23-year-old's hits went for two bases, and his seven doubles leads the Aeros and ranks fourth in the EL. Brown is currently enjoying season-highs in batting average (.319), on-base percentage (.410) and slugging percentage (.500).
Southern League
Jai Miller, Carolina
.500 (11-22), 5 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 8 SO, 1 SB, .909 SLG
Carolina awoke from a season-long offensive slumber this week, as the club raised its average from .203 to .285. Miller was at the center of the Mudcats' resurgence as the 22-year-old hit .500 on the week to propel his batting average up and over the .300 mark. On Wednesday against Chattanooga, the Alabama native went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. He followed that up by blasting two home runs against Tennessee on Thursday.
Texas League
Johnny Ash, Corpus Christi
.400 (10-25), 5 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB, 2 SO, 0 SB, .720 SLG
A sparkplug at the top of the Hooks' order, Ash has hit safely in 10 straight games. His .359 average is second-best in the TL, while his .438 on-base percentage ranks third. The 5-foor-9 second baseman, who smacked his first homer of the season against Frisco on Sunday, has struck out just four times in 78 at-bats.
California League
Justin Upton, Visalia
.519 (14-27), 8 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 10 RBI, 2 BB, 9 SO, 0 SB, 1.185 SLG
After failing to go yard over his first 16 games, Upton has bashed a home run in each of his last five. His most recent dinger snapped an eighth-inning tie and lifted the Oaks to a 3-2 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. The 19-year-old has his hit safely in 12 straight games and is now batting .366 on the season. His .622 slugging percentage is the league's fourth-best.
Carolina League
Steven Pearce, Lynchburg
.484 (15-31), 10 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 8 HR, 16 RBI, 2 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, 1.323 SLG
Pearce turned 24 on April 13, and since then he has been unstoppable. The former eighth-round draft pick has smashed 11 home runs over his past 13 games and now leads all of Minor League Baseball in that category. Pearce collected at least two hits in all seven games he played this week and is now batting a season-high .347. He went yard in six of these contests, including multi-home run games on both Monday and Sunday.
Florida State League
Allen Craig, Palm Beach
.379 (11-29), 7 R, 0 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, .793 SLG
The red-hot Craig has emerged as an FSL Triple Crown threat. The 22-year-old third baseman ranks fourth in average (.358) and third in RBIs (17), while his five home runs are tied for the most in the league. Four of his dingers have come in the past six days, including a two-homer, four-RBI game against Vero Beach on Thursday.
Midwest League
Travis Snider, Lansing
.520 (13-25), 1 R, 4 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 6 SO, 3 SB, .680 SLG
Snider's six-game hitting streak raised his already notable average to a stellar .392, which leads the Lugnuts and ranks second in the league. The 19-year-old Washingtonian has ripped the Cedar Rapids pitching staff to shreds over the past four ballgames, collecting 10 hits in 16 at-bats. On Sunday, Snider went 4-for-5 and laced his team-leading eighth double.
South Atlantic League
Michael Paulk, Asheville
.542 (13-24), 13 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2 SB, .875 SLG
Paulk has hit safely and scored a run in each of his past six ballgames, a hot streak that raised his already impressive average to a league-leading .432. His 13 runs scored this week doubled his season total, and he now leads all of Minor League Baseball in that category. On Saturday, Paulk went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double, four runs scored and two RBIs as the Tourists doubled up Kannapolis, 10-5.
