Barringer named PBL Trainer of Year

Becomes second Missoula trainer to earn honor since '07
August 27, 2011
The Missoula Osprey, in conjunction with the Pioneer Baseball League, has announced that Osprey Athletic Trainer Scott Barringer has been named the Pioneer League Athletic Trainer of the Year.

The award is voted on by the other athletic trainers from all of the teams in the Pioneer League. It is the second time in the last five seasons that a trainer from the Osprey has been given the award, as Atsu Takei earned the honor in 2007.

"We are extremely proud of Scott for being named 2011 Pioneer League Athletic Trainer of the Year," said D-backs Minor League Medical Coordinator Ryan DiPanfilo. "The award recognizes his professional talents as a skilled clinician with high integrity and a strong work ethic. Undoubtedly, Scott has shown to be a great representation of our organization and possesses a very bright future within the profession."

Barringer, who has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association since 2006, is in his first season with the Osprey as Athletic Trainer. Barringer received his Master's degree in Athletic Training while serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at East Carolina University. Barringer received his bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University, where he served as a student athletic trainer and gained clinical experience at the high school, Division I and Division II levels, as well as playing a season of varsity baseball. Barringer also had the opportunity to serve as an intern during the summer of 2010 with the Diamondbacks.

Tickets for all Osprey home games are now on sale at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 N. Higgins, by phone at (406) 543-3300 or online at www.MissoulaOsprey.com.
