Toth Named SL Trainer of the Year

JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 17, 2011) - The Jackson Generals are pleased to announce that Matt Toth of the Jackson Generals has been selected by his peers as the 2011 Southern League Trainer of the Year. Matt now becomes one of seventeen league winners to be considered for Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year, which will be announced and awarded at the Winter Meetings.

Toth, 34 resides in Albany, OR with wife Annie and son Alex This is Matt's sixth season as a trainer in the Mariners organization, Prior to joining Jackson in 2009, he was trainer for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2008 and spent 2006-2007 as trainer with High Desert. Toth worked as a trainer for the Oregon State football and baseball teams in 2004. He also worked as a trainer in the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2002-03 and the Chicago Cubs organization in 2001. Toth received his Bachelors of Art in Physical Education from John Carroll University (OH) in 1999 and his Masters Degree in Health and Human Performance from Oregon State University in 2001.

The Generals continue the 10-game homestand tonight at Pringles Park, playing game two of a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokikes. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. The game can be heard on Jackson's NewsTalk 101.5 FM and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com
