San Jose Giants Gary Brown Named California League Player of the Week

Brown Earns His Second California League Player of the Week Honor of 2011

SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Giants center fielder Gary Brown was named the California League Player of the Week for the week ending on August 28. Brown hit .567 (17-for-30) with four doubles, two triples, two home runs, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored. Brown had a 5-for-5 performance with two homers, two doubles, four RBI and five runs scored in an 11-5 victory against the Stockton Ports on Thursday, August 25. This is the second player of the week honor for the Giants' leadoff hitter this season.

Brown leads the California League in hits (179) and triples (13), is second in runs scored (106) and third in stolen bases (49).

Brown's 179 hits this season breaks the previous San Jose Giants team record of 176 held by Mark Leonard (1988).
