Rangers' Minor Leaguer suspended

May 9, 2007
NEW YORK -- Texas Rangers Minor Leaguer Francisco Cruceta was suspended for 50 games, effectively immediately, on Wednesday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced the suspension for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Cruceta, a 25-year-old right-hander who has made six Major League appearances, is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA in six games -- five of which were starts -- for Triple-A Oklahoma.
