Tigres win Game 1 in Mexican League finals
Angelopolis squandered an early five-run lead and came to bat in the seventh with the score tied, 5-5. With two outs, Adan Munoz walked and Octavio Sandoval chased reliever Miguel Gonzalez (0-1) with a single. Arturo Ruiz came on and hit pinch-hitter Serafin Rodriguez, setting the stage for Robles' heroics.
The Saraperos padded their lead in the eighth on an RBI double by Javier Robles and a two-run throwing error by second baseman Francisco Arias.
Jesus Guzman (1-0) got the win in relief, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in three innings with three strikeouts. Cecilio Garibaldi and Edgar Huerta eached tossed a scoreless frame for the Tigres, who host Game 2 on Wednesday.
Angelopolis built a 5-0 lead by the third inning. Matias Carrillo lifted a sacrifice fly in the first, Jorge Alberto Vazquez doubled in a run and scored in a three-run second and Luis Suarez had an RBI single in the third.
Pablo Ortega tossed four scoreless innings for the Tigres but failed to retire any of the five batters he faced in the fifth. Jose Munoz's bases-loaded single plated two runs and Francisco Garcia's RBI base hit ended Ortega's night. Morgan Burkhart capped the four-run rally with a sacrifice fly off Guzman.
Jayson Bass tied it in the seventh with a two-out solo homer.
