A World Champion Express Clydesdale to visit the South Bend Cubs

Express and the Cubs will also be helping raise money for LoveWay Inc.
July 18, 2017

Elkhart, IN - Express Employment Professionals of North-Central Indiana, a corporate sponsor of the South Bend Cubs, is bringing one of the world-renowned Express Clydesdales, based out of Yukon Oklahoma, to Four Winds Field on Sunday July 30th. The Express Clydesdales are a famous Draft Horse team, and are coming off a show tour that included their winning of a third world championship in the six-horse wagon hitch competition at the famous Calgary Stampede in Canada. They are also headlining Grandstand events at the Elkhart County Fair from July 21st to July 29th.

Of a rare black and white coloring for the draft horse breed, an Express Clydesdale is a majestic equine that stands around 18 hands (six feet) high at the shoulders and weigh more than 2,000 pounds, with horse-shoes the size of dinner plates. And although very large and powerful, it is a gentle giant that has a calm and caring disposition, and interacts well with adults and children. The Express horse-drawn delivery wagon used in parades and competitions is a replica of the Studebaker wagon manufactured in South Bend in the late 19th century, weighing over 3,000 pounds and trimmed with 24k gold accents.

Express and the Cubs will also be welcoming LoveWay, Inc., a non-profit PATH (Professional Associates of Therapeutic Horsemanship) accredited equestrian facility located in Middlebury, Indiana. LoveWay transforms the lives of special-needs individuals and groups through compassionate therapeutic equestrian experiences. Express will be helping LoveWay raise money by giving away a mini Express Clydesdale plushie for each $5 donation to LoveWay.

"I look forward to providing this unique opportunity to the community and also taking advantage of this exciting time to benefit LoveWay," says Norm Robertson, Express franchise owner.

In addition to competing on a national stage, the Express Clydesdales of Express Employment Professionals have participated in some of the most recognized parades and promotional events in the world, including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade, the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Hollywood Parades, Calgary Stampede Show & Parade, Kentucky Derby Pegasus Parade, the International Finals Rodeo and the Professional Bull Riders World Finals. The Clydesdales enjoyed a historic moment when they escorted Britain's Duke of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge in North America at the Calgary Stampede in 2011.

The three area offices of Express Employment Professionals in North-Central Indiana serve St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Fulton, Whitley, and Kosciusko counties providing employment opportunities in a variety of job fields that include commercial and industrial, skilled trades, office administration, and professional placements.
