Pedro Florimon Promoted to Orioles

Seventh former Shorebird to make jump to majors

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are pleased to report that former infielder Pedro Florimon, Jr. has been recalled by the Orioles from Double-A Bowie. This marks his first promotion to the major leagues.

Florimon, 24, spent two seasons on the Eastern Shore with the Shorebirds. In 2007, he batted .197 with four home runs and 37 RBIs. In 2008, he batted .223 with 18 doubles and 19 RBIs.

His career took off after his two-year run with the Shorebirds. In 2009, he hit .267 with nine homers with the Frederick Keys. Then, in 2010, he batted .288 with the Keys.

The La Romana, Dominican Republic native batted .267 with eight home runs in Double-A this season. He had five hits and five RBIs in his final two games with the BaySox.

Florimon is the seventh former Shorebirds player to make the jump to the major leagues this season. The other six are: Blake Davis ('06), Ryan Adams ('08), Matt Angle ('08), Pedro Beato ('07), Zach Britton ('08) and Kyle Hudson ('09).
