Lorin Named Jewish Baseball All-Star

BRADENTON, FL ¨C The Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are pleased to announce that starting pitcher Brett Lorin has been named a Jewish minor league all-star by Jewish Baseball News. He was named by the website as the runner-up for best starting pitcher.

Lorin finished the year with a 2.84 ERA, 99 strikeouts, and just 19 walks. Finishehing 7-6 overall, the 24-year-old went 5-2 during the season¡¯s second half and held opposing teams to a .230 batting average. Lorin¡¯s ERA is the standard bearer for the Marauders through two seasons, the only qualifying pitcher to hurl an ERA under three. He was one of four Marauders named to the Florida State League midseason all-star team. Washington¡¯s Danny Rosenbaum was selected as the site¡¯s best starter, just edging Lorin.

More than 50 Jewish athletes played minor©\league baseball this year, two (Lorin and David Rubinstein) with the Marauders. Jewish Baseball News is a website that tracks their performance on a daily basis. The site names their best starting pitcher, relief pitcher, comeback player, rookie batter, rookie pitcher and MVP at the end of the season.
