With the game tied 3-3, Gose ripped a one-out single to right off Richmond's losing pitcher Hector Correa (0-1). After Callix Crabbe flied out, Moises Sierra singled to right, with Gose advancing to third. Gose took off for home when the ball rolled past right fielder Francisco Peguero, scoring the winning run.
The Fisher Cats won the best-of-five final 3-games-to-1, claiming the EL crown for the first time since the inaugural 2004 season. Kevin Howard earned Most Valuable Player with a home run in Game 4. He went 6-for-15 in the Richmond series with 5 RBI in the four games.
Clint Everts (1-0), who struck out both batters he faced after entering with two on, one out, in the bottom of the eighth, earned the win. Bobby Korecky worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save of the post season.
For the first time in the series, the Fisher Cats scored the first run of the game. Mike McDade was hit, moved to second on a single by Danny Perales and scored on a single by Jonathan Diaz for a 1-0 lead.
Richmond tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. Johnny Monell doubled, moving to third on a single by Chris Dominguez and scoring when the ball was not fielded cleanly in centerfield by New Hampshire's Anthony Gose (error).
The Flying Squirrels moved in front against New Hampshire starter Deck McGuire in the third. Jackson Williams doubled, moved to third on a bunt, and after Wendell Fairley walked, he scored on a single by Francisco Peguero to make it 2-1 Richmond.
New Hampshire reclaimed the lead in the fourth inning. Mike McDade walked, and Kevin Howard followed with a line drive home run to right field to put the Fisher Cats up 3-2 against Richmond starter Justin Fitzgerald.
Richmond drew even in the bottom of the sixth inning. Francisco Peguero singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a fielders choice and scored on an infield single by Juan Perez to tie the game at 3-3.
