Souza, 'pen limit Chiefs

Justin Souza and two relievers combined on a five-hitter as Wisconsin topped Peoria, 3-1, to split Sunday's doubleheader.

Souza gave up one run on three hits in four innings. Joseph Kantakevich (2-1) allowed a walk in two hitless frames and Brian Kappel worked around two singles in the ninth for his first save.

The Timber Rattlers (16-31) took the lead in the fifth on Kuo Hui Lo's two-run single and added a run in the sixth when Carlos Peguero smacked his second homer of the season.

Chiefs starter Jose Pina (1-4) gave up three runs on nine hits and one walk, striking out three in six innings.

Dylan Johnston hit his second home run for Peoria (23-25), which took the opener, 4-1. --Steve Conley/MLB.com
