Suns return home for exciting 10-game stand

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On Saturday night, the Jacksonville Suns will be back at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville to host the Mobile BayBears to begin a five-game series, to be followed by another five games at home against the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Suns are currently in second place in the Southern League's South Division and are battling Mississippi and Montgomery for the first-half title and an automatic playoff berth.

The Suns will help fans get ready for the upcoming hurricane season with Hurricane Preparedness Night on Sat, June 2. The first 3,000 fans will receive a free Glow Fan, one of the more innovative giveaways ever, courtesy of Memorial Health Jacksonville, WJXT TV-4 and WOKV AM 690 and 106.5FM. Fans will also receive a hurricane tracking guide from WJXT TV-4, and there will be lots of hurricane prizes given away, including a brand-new generator.

On Sunday, the Suns celebrate Southpaw's Birthday. All of Southpaw's mascot friends will be on hand to help him celebrate, plus all kids get a free pair of Cheerstix, courtesy of Bug Out Service, CW17 and KISS FM. All kids will also get a free cup of Birthday Cake Ice Cream from Blue Bell Ice Cream to help celebrate Southpaw's Birthday. After the game, Crispers presents Kids Run the Bases.

The first Camp Day of the season follows on Monday at a special 12:05 p.m. game time, with many summer and day campers expected. Fans will enjoy fifty-cent hot dogs, ice cream treats and peanuts on Tuesday for Fifty Cent Family Feast Night, sponsored by Hampton Farms, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Folio Weekly and 99.9 Gator Country. Baseball in the SUNShine returns on Wednesday afternoon for a Businessperson's Special where fans can get a box seat, hot dog and large beverage for just $13.50, compliments of American Pioneer Floridian Care, Comcast and WOKV AM690 and 106.5FM.

The hottest place in town to be on Thursday nights is the Baseball Grounds for Thursday Night Throwdown and Halloween in June. Buds are just a buck and other great drink specials can be found, compliments of Budweiser, Bacardi, Three Olives Vodka and Planet Radio 107.3FM. Fans are also invited to celebrate Halloween early with the Suns and dress in their best Halloween costume to win great prizes.

On Friday night, June 8, the Suns welcome BirdZerk back to the Baseball Grounds to entertain fans all game long, courtesy of BB&T Bank, Comcast and 102.9 The Point. The first 2,000 fans will also receive a free set of Suns team baseball cards from Jacksonville Sports Cards, Comcast and 102.9 The Point. It's also the second Scout Campout of the season, sponsored by Solantic and Radio Disney, with hundreds of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts attending the game and camping out on the field overnight, enjoying a midnight movie on the Videoboard. One lucky fan will also have the opportunity to win $300,000 in the BB&T Triple-Play Giveaway on this night only. After the game, NAPA brings you Friday Family Fireworks.

The first bobble-head giveaway of the season takes place Saturday night, June 9, as the Suns honor former star James Loney with a commemorative bobble-head, courtesy of the U.S. Army and The New 99.1 WQIK. The Suns also celebrate the Army's Birthday with a special pre-game ceremony. Saturday is also the first Duke's Mayonnaise and Winn Dixie Family Night of the season. Fans can receive a free ticket with a proof of purchase from any Duke's Mayonnaise product.

Sunday, June 10, is Lou Gehrig Day and a special fundraiser for ALS. All kids will get a free baseball card of Lou Gehrig and can Run the Bases after the game. The homestand concludes on Mon, June 11 with the second and final Camp Day of the season with thousands of summer and day campers expected for the special early afternoon game.
