Three Timber Rattlers Make All Star Team

June 6, 2007
The Midwest League and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers announce three Timber Rattlers have been selected to play in the Midwest League

The Midwest League and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers announced three Timber Rattlers have been selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star game on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Geneva, IL, home to the Kane County Cougars.

Right-handed pitchers Joe Kantakevich and Andy Barb have been named to the Midwest League Eastern Division All-Star roster.  INF Carlos Triunfel was also selected, but due to injury, will not be able to play.

Kantakevich was a 13th round pick by the Mariners in the 2006 draft out of William and Mary.  The 23 year old is 2-2 with a 2.13 ERA in 22 appearances this season.

Barb was acquired by the Mariners from the Phillies in the Jaime Moyer trade last August.  The 22 year old is 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA and 7 saves in 23 appearances this season.

Triunfel was signed as a non drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2006.  The 17 year old is hitting .309 with 8 doubles and 14 RBI.

Due to unbalanced divisions, each year one Western Division team is assigned to the Eastern Division for the All Star Game.  This is the Timber Rattlers season to make the switch, which is why Kantakevich and Barb will represent the Eastern Division.  All-Stars are nominated and selected by the Field Managers in the Midwest League.
