Dodger Marlon Anderson To Join 51s on ML Rehab Assignment on Thursday, June 7

June 7, 2007
LAS VEGAS: Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Marlon Anderson will join the Las Vegas 51s on a Major League Rehabilitation assignment beginning on Thursday, June 7. Las Vegas opens a four-game home stand tonight against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, at 7:11 p.m. at Cashman Field.

Anderson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to remove bone chips and scar tissue on May 11. This season for the Dodgers, he appeared in 18 games and batted .222 (4-for-18). In 2006, he appeared in 25 games for the Dodgers and batted .375 (24-for-64) with 7 home runs and 15 RBI.

"My elbow feels fine. Now I have to get some at-bats and get my legs under me," said Anderson (from Dodgers.com), who was a big contributor down the stretch last year filling in for left fielder Andre Ethier with seven homers in 64 at-bats after his trade from Washington.

"I haven't played the field and I have to make sure my legs are OK. My elbow is really not a concern. It feels as fine as it's felt in a long time. The timetable is whatever it's going to be. I'll be back before 20 days."
