Ken Williams - OF - 1983-84

A 3rd round pick of the Chicago White Sox in 1982, Ken Williams would open the 1983 season playing for the defending Midwest League Champion Appleton Foxes.  The 19 year old outfielder would struggle in the Midwest League hitting only .231, but showed a little pop at the plate by hitting 12 home runs.  After helping the Foxes to another Midwest League Championship, Williams would return to Appleton for the 1984 season.  He got off to a good start (.286, 5 HR, 26 RBI) and was promoted to Double A Glens Falls after 38 games.

Williams would make his Major League debut on September 2, 1986, starting in right field and batting 8th, right behind SS and current White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen.  He would go 1 for 4 in the 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.  Williams spent six seasons in the Majors, playing in 451 games for the White Sox, Tigers, Blue Jays, and Expos.  Following his playing days, Williams became a scout for the White Sox.  He gradually moved up the organization and was named General Manager in 2001.  The White Sox team that he built captured the World Series title in 2005.  He was inducted into the Appleton Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
