M-Braves Announce 2012 Schedule

PEARL, MS-The Mississippi Braves open its 2012 campaign on April 5 with a 10-game homestand, featuring a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears and a five-game series the Montgomery Biscuits. The Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves is set to begin its eighth season at Trustmark Park after making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005.
The 2012 season, which runs through September 3, consists of 70 home games and 70 road games. Fans have the opportunity to spend several holidays at the diamond, including Easter weekend, Memorial Day, Father's Day, and Independence Day.
After kicking off the 2012 season with a 10-game homestand, the M-Braves begin a 10-game road swing against the Jackson Generals and the Birmingham Barons. The Braves conclude the month of April against the Huntsville Stars.
May is highlighted with five-game series against the Southern League's newest team, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, along with the Tennessee Smokies and the Montgomery Biscuits.
In the inaugural season at Maritime Park, the Blue Wahoos, Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, take the place of the Carolina Mudcats. The Mudcats remain in Zebulon, NC, but shift to the Carolina League (High-A). With Pensacola moving into the Southern League's South Division, Birmingham will transition into the North Division.
The first half of the season concludes on June 17 against the Jacksonville Suns. During the three-day All-Star break, the Tennessee Smokies will host the 2012 Southern League All-Star Game at Smokies Park on Tuesday, June 19.
Mississippi kicks off the second half of the season with a five-game series against the Barons at Regions Park before returning to Trustmark Park for a five-game set against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
The Braves open a six-game homestand on Independence Day, featuring a couple of three-game series against the Generals and the Barons. A four-game series against the Lookouts and a five-game set with the BayBears wrap up the month of July.
August features a five-game series with Birmingham before the M-Braves conclude the home portion of the schedule with a 10-game homestand against the Stars and the Blue Wahoos. The final game of the season at Trustmark Park is Tuesday, August 28.
The M-Braves close out the regular season on Labor Day weekend with a five-game series at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, AL.
