RALLY Celebrity Softball Game heads to Coolray Field
The Brian McCann Rally Celebrity Softball Game, presented by Jet Sports Management, Brian and Ashley McCann and the Chipper Jones Family Foundation, will take place Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the Gwinnett Braves Stadium, Coolray Field. The Home Run Derby will begin at 7 p.m., and the First Pitch will take place at 7:35 p.m.
Tickets for the Celebrity Softball Game are $10 for adults, $5 for students and children under 10 are free. The family-friendly event will include a silent auction and food and merchandise for sale. Parking will be $5.
"My wife and I are excited to be honorary chairs again at this year's Celebrity Softball Game," said McCann. "After meeting kids affected by cancer and seeing what they go through, Rally has become close to our hearts. We really look forward to being involved in this event each year."
In addition to the McCann's and Jones', celebrity guests scheduled to attend include former Atlanta Brave, current New York Yankee and defending home run derby champion Andruw Jones, Atlanta Braves' Mascot Homer and other Mizuno Big League players. Rally Kids, those who have fought or are fighting cancer, will also be in attendance as honored guests at the game and will participate in on-field events.
"Every day in America, 46 families will find out that their child has cancer, and they all have the same question. 'What are you going to do to make my baby better?" said Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO of Rally. "Rally exists to help answer that question. Through the efforts of the Delta Air Lines Double Play, we are one step closer to finding a cure."
The Celebrity Softball Game serves as one of two events featured in the Delta Air Lines Double Play. The second event, the Benefit Bash with Mizuno Big League Players, will take place the previous evening at 7 p.m. at 200 Peachtree. The Delta Air Lines Double Play has raised more than $900,000 for childhood cancer research.
Since its inception in 2005, Rally has awarded more than $2.2 million in research grants supporting 50 projects nationwide. Grants are awarded through a competitive peer review process assuring that the best research is funded.
